This is a beautiful long-lived tornado that I observed near Attica, Kansas on May 29, 2004. Notice the bottom half of the tornado is lit by the sun!

I would investigate using 1/2″ hardware cloth or similar to make a cylinder and then attach the screen to that. Then one could use mechanical fasteners to attach the cylinder to the turntable and sew the screen with thin wire to the hardware cloth.

A tornado forms when changes in wind speed and direction create a horizontal spinning effect within a storm cell. This effect is then tipped vertical by rising air moving up through the thunderclouds.
